RI Theme 2011-12

The Rotary Club of Mordialloc is a member club of the worldwide service organisation of Rotary International.  The Club is located in the south-eastern metropolitan area of Melbourne and its main activities are centred on Mordialloc, Parkdale, Mentone and nearby areas.  The club also participates actively in Rotary projects Australia-wide and internationally.

Weekly Meeting

The club’s weekly meeting is held at the Mordialloc Sporting Club, Corner Nepean Highway and Epsom Road, Mordialloc.  Meeting date and time are:  Tuesday 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm.

Rotary’s program to eliminate Polio from the world

On 25 February 2012 the World Health Organisation

announced that India is no longer a polio-endemic

country. Although it will be another two years before it

can be declared polio free, this announcement is a major step forward in Rotary’s program to eradicate polio from the world

 

Rotary Club of Mordialloc 40th Anniversary Celebration Saturday 12 November 2011.

The Rotary Club of Mordialloc celebrated 40 years of community service with a dinner at Woodlands Golf Club, Mordialloc on Saturday 12 November. The gathering was attended by some 140 guests including local parliamentary and municipal representatives, the District Governor Juliet Riseley  and other senior Rotarians, together with current members, representatives of other clubs and many past members

 

The guest speaker was Mr John Bertrand AM, skipper of the victorious Australia II in the Americas cup of 1983 and a close friend of fellow yachtsman and club charter member John Dawe.

 

 

Interplast Golf Day – Friday 20 April 2012

This year’s Annual Golf Day at Woodlands Golf Club, Mordialloc to support Interplast was held on 20 April. This year’s event raised some $7,000.

 

Interplast Australia and New Zealand is a non-profit incorporated company established as a joint project between the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Rotary. Funds raised by the Interplast Golf Day will be used to finance volunteer surgical teams performing reconstructive surgery to correct severe facial deformities among young people in South East Asia and the Pacific Islands. Since 1997 the Club’s Interplast Golf Day has raised in excess of $60,000. 

 

Annual Art Show – 14 to 19 August 2012

The Rotary Club of Mordialloc will hold its Annual Art Show from Tuesday 14 to Sunday 19 August 2012 at Westfield Southland Shopping Centre, Nepean Highway, Cheltenham.

 

Entry forms will be mailed to prospective artists in the last week of May with a closing date of 24 July.
