RI Theme 2008-09

The Rotary Club of Mordialloc is a member club of the worldwide service organisation of Rotary International. The Club is located in the south-eastern metropolitan area of Melbourne and its main activities are centred on Mordialloc, Parkdale, Mentone and nearby areas. The club also participates actively in Rotary projects Australia-wide and internationally.

Recent and Coming Highlights

Meeting Venue

The club weekly meeting is now held at the Mordialloc Sporting Club, Corner Nepean Highway and Epsom Road, Mordialloc. Meeting date and time are: Tuesday 6.00 pm for 6.30 pm.

Community Kitchen Project

Maureen McDonald of the community service committee is managing a new club project called “Community Kitchen”.

The program provides information and instruction in basic food preparation from purchase of foods to cooking and serving in three hour sessions held over 10 weeks. The program is held at St Matthew’s Church hall, Nepean Highway Cheltenham. So far two programs of 10 weeks each have been undertaken commencing in April and July with up to seven participants each week. The next program commences on 10 October July and runs to 19 December

Annual Mayoral Golf Day – 19 September

The Annual Charity Golf Day for 2008, run by the Rotary Club of Mordialloc in conjunction with the City of Kingston, was held at Woodlands Golf Club, Mordialloc on Friday 19 September. Over 60 golfer enjoyed the day although heavy rain fell in the last hour. Funds raised will go towards local community projects

Annual Club Changeover 2008

The annual changeover of club officers for 2008 was held on Tuesday 1 July at Doyle’s Bridge Hotel, Mordialloc. Outgoing President Graeme Bruce reported on club activities of the past year. Incoming President David Brunt and his team were welcomed into office.

Art Show 2008

The Rotary Club of Mordialloc’s 2008 Annual Art Show was held at Westfield Shopping Centre, Cheltenham from Tuesday 9 to Sunday 14 September. The overall standard of entries was high and over 300 paintings by local artists were on display of which more than 50 paintings were sold.

Proceeds of the Art Show will go to local youth programs of Rotary.
