Report on 2006 Art show by Brian Sawford: “2006
Art Show Report This year’s Art
Show was the most successful in recent times. Of the 286 paintings on
display, we sold 55 with another 7 going as acquisitive prizes to our
sponsors. Our sale rate is thus nearly 20%, a high rate amongst shows like
ours. Lorraine Burns
again won the ‘Best Painting’ Prize with one of her “children on the beach”
works. These have been highly successful for The table below
summarises some statistics from recent shows. You will see that we were up in
all aspects except the commission we take on prize sponsorships. This is
because we did not obtain a sponsor for our major prize and so had to fund
the Best Painting Prize through our sales. We have put a lot of effort into
getting sponsors, and to making our sponsorship package more professional and
more attractive, over the last two years. It is important that we maintain
this effort in the coming years. Please be on the look out for potential
sponsors and refer them to a member of the Art Show Committee. I would like to
thank all the members and partners who participated in the running of the Art
Show this year, especially members of the Committee. Brian Sawford Art Show
Chairman”
The 2007 Art Show will again be held at Southland Shopping
