CLEAN WATER ASSISTANCE PROJECTS

LOCATION            : Tajen Village, Penebel Sub District, Tabanan Regency, Bali, Indonesia

BACKGROUND         : Tajen Village consists of 7 Banjar [Balinese Traditional Communities] Tajen Jeroan, Tajen Dauh Yeh, Tajen Sedahan, Tajen Pande, Tajen Kuta Bali, Cepik, Cepik Kelod. With 888 families [2891 inhabitants] but 222 families [692 inhabitants] live in poverty. The village has spring water available located in Clepud Village, Biaung, Penebel District about 6 kilometres away.

The members of these communities currently walk 2 hours in order to meet their daily requirement for clean water, which is time consuming and reflects in skin and health problems.

PROJECT GOALS      : To provide clean water to the inhabitants of the Tajen Village.

STRATEGIES          : To provide concrete water tanks [reservoirs] and constructing pipe-lines from the natural spring to the reservoirs and distributing the water into the villages. The project [water tanks, piping and distribution works] will be carried out by the villages based upon communal work and utilizing local materials and purchased piping.

COST                  : US$23000.00

STATUS               : This project has been granted a Matching Grant with The Rotary Foundation and we have joined together as funding partners with the Rotary Club of Bali Sanur in Indonesia, the Rotary Club of Kofu in Japan and the Rotary Clubs of Noble Park, Croydon and Mont Albert and Surrey Hills. District Designated Funds have also been utilized from D3400 Indonesia and D9810. The Rotary Club of Bali Sanur is our Sister Club and the Rotary Club of Kofu is the Sister Club of the Rotary Club of Noble Park.

The bank account has been opened and the Rotary Club of Bali Sanur is now staring to purchase materials and organize for the construction of the pipe lines etc.
