Our Mission
In 2010-11 - our objective is "Building Communities – Bridging Continents".
- Our Club pays great attention to Multiculturalism and has 17 different nationalities within the ranks of the membership. Australian Citizenship ceremonies are held each year as well as highlighting and supporting the importance of the many ethnic cultures in our community.
- United Nations Day is celebrated by CBD each year
- We support and are to the fore with issues and matters relating to Indigenous Australians and provide scholarship to indigenous doctor undergraduates and indigenous health workers.
- Reconciliation has played a major role in our club projects including practical programs such as “Kids at Risk”, Programs to teach Indigenous people First Aid so that they go back to their respective Communities to teach and deliver First Aid to their own people.
- We play a major role in assisting “street kids” through Key College and Oasis – The Salvation Army Youth Support Group, and Life for Kids project at “The Block” in Redfernin Surry Hills together with many other Youth programs.
- The many talented youth in the community also receive assistance from the club; The Siemens Science Experience, The Mathy Award Scholarship for talented young Opera singers, Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars to study overseas, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment, Rotary Youth Exchange and Rotaract.
- The homeless and the refugees are given high priority and are receiving our support.
- We support The Womens’ Refuge for children and women who have suffered violence and abuse in their former homes
- Youth Mental Health Awareness is a major project of the club. Scholarships are given for the research into youth depression and youth suicide
- The Australian Rotary Health Research Fund, The Rotary Foundation together with the International project Polio Plus (to eradicate Polio from the world) and other international projects are supported by our Club.
- We donate Shelter Boxes which contain a 10-person tent, and all articles to provide shelter and basic amenities to people who have lost their homes due to natural disasters
