Projects

The Rotary Club of Kings Cross was established in 1966 and has been working in the local community, nationally and internationally since. Its achievements include:
  • Sponsorship of a range of youth and young people education, development and leadership programs, including international student exchanges and scholarships;

  • Support for community programs and services provided by: the Wayside Chapel, the Salvation Army Oasis Youth Network and St John's Church Darlinghurst 'Rough Edges' program;

  • Medical equipment for the Garvan Research Institute, St Vincent's Hospital and Foundation 41, including a high-energy linear accelerator for the treatment of cancer;

  • The purchase of three motor vehicles for local community organisations;

  • Funding for the first mobile 'Life Education Centre', which has now spread worldwide;

  • GPS navigation units for Kings Cross Police vehicles, St Vincent's ambulances and the Kings Cross Fire Brigade;

  • Annual 'Pride of Workmanship' Awards for local employees who have excelled in their work places;

  • An annual Christmas Party for senior citizens in the area; and

  • A substantial financial Christmas 'present' to an identified needy local family.
