Camp Breakaway

From the President

February 2002

We have moved in to our new permanent abode, our very own Clubhouse - Phillip House in M. Penang.  More details soon.

19 September 2001

Re: Phillip House

We had our inaugural Board Meeting at Phillip House (name may change, watch this spot) on Monday 17th September.

On the previous Friday, Rodger, Roy and myself meet with Keith Dedden of the FDC to discuss the finer details of our lease of the building complex. Our Initial lease is 3+3 years with the minister to asked to approve an extension of seven years and an option of another 10 years. The FDC are willing to spend some money on the building upgrade and hopefully we can work in with them supplying materials and us the labour.

A building committee of five (Kerry Bayliss, Michael Dick, Alan Parsons, Rodger Wilson and myself) has been formed to co-ordinate the work and will be headed by Kerry. The board has decided to keep this committee running initially for three years and then have two members stand down each year after. The two members can then stand with any member wanting to be elected by the majority of the club.

The building committee is presently surveying the whole building to prepare a budget and plan to be presented to the Club for approval. A separate building account will also be setup by Alan

The FDC will forward a letter to the Club to formalise our acceptance and a lease will be drawn up in the next few weeks. Our first working bee cleanup will commence as soon as the lease is signed, so get your mops ready to clean and taste buds activated to enjoy our first on-site BBQ Drinks supplied by the President !

The most recent winners of our Trailer Raffle.  Winners get a registered trailer and all the contents:

 4 stroke mower

compost bin

wheel barrow

lawn food

garden hose

clippers, assorted garden hand tools

fertiliser

6 x 4 trailer & registration with an added frame & mesh sides by the famous Somersby Sheet Metal company
MVC-392F.JPG (266494 bytes) MVC-396F.JPG (260839 bytes)  The winners were very excited, a couple who retired from Sydney to Woy Woy about a year ago.  They only bought two tickets from a Saturday morning shopping trip to the West Gosford shops.  They are keen gardeners (as can be seen from their well kept yard) and needed a new lawn mower.

Congratulations!
