“I
look forward to the weekly fellowship with people I now regard as good friends.
It’s my opportunity to discuss events and ideas with those who share my values
& interests” Ross
Our club is regarded as being a vibrant and friendly one where members enjoy themselves while getting things done. At our meetings we usually have a speaker who will inform, entertain or provoke discussion. The fun and fellowship extends to social events (eg. friendship dinners, weekends away, and theatre parties), when we are carrying out hands on service or when we are fundraising (e.g. our giant garage sale). Our partners are a great support and get a lot out of participating in many of our activities.
“
I enjoy working in the community helping those who need our practical
assistance.” David

Over the years we have had a lot of fun and satisfaction by working in the community on projects such as:
Taking the folk at Nordby Retirement Village out on a picnic.
Holding a dinner at Ronald McDonald house for the families staying there

Building a holding yard for the Riding for the Disabled organisation to allow more participants in the program
“There
is nothing more rewarding than seeing the excitement and enthusiasm from someone
who has just attended a Rotary Youth Leadership Training Program.”
Tim B
We work closely with the local schools to encourage the students to develop their abilities and gain new ones. Many of our local students:
Have
spent time overseas as part of the youth exchange program;
Have
participated in the National Science Summer School in Canberra;
Have attended a driver awareness programme to encourage a sensible approach to road
safety
Have debated another country's point of view at a model United Nations assembly.

“The time I spent in the highlands of Papua New Guinea building a toilet block has created a lasting empathy with the people of that area.” Larry J
Since
then our club has created a trust fund to help with the medical expenses and
education of a young lad from the village who had horrific burns.
Recently several of our members have worked on a Rotary project to rebuild a hospital and provide water in one of the islands of Vanuatu.
“Rotary
has extended my network with its wide cross section of members.” Roslyn S
Our
vocational program includes member job talks, company visits, and recognising
local people who excel, with a pride of workmanship award.
