· WHAT IS ROTARY?

· Rotary is an international organisation made up of independent locally based Rotary Clubs, open to men and women alike, that can be found in over 160 countries.

· Locally, a Rotary club is a voluntary service organisation dedicated to serving its local community and contributing to world understanding and peace through the support of worthy local and international activities.

· Locally and internationally Rotary strives to provide a balanced programme of community support by way of expertise, hands on activities and financial assistance to people and organisations working to improve the world we live in.

· Rotary clubs focus on four main areas of support and service, they are:

· What else does a Rotary Club do?

· Rotary isn't just about fund raising and community activity. Friendship and fellowship are important too. In fact we have a committee that focuses on social activities for club members.

· We have a wide range of social activities to ensure that club membership is a fun experience.

· We encourage members to involve their families in club meetings and all the other activities.

· Who are Rotarians?

· Membership of a Rotary club is available to any adult, man or woman, who is committed to serving the community through the application of their skills and experience in accordance with the aims and objects of Rotary.

· In our club we have people from all walks of life, including; schoolteachers, accountants, real estate agents, panel beaters, small business proprietors and business consultant

· When and where does Kincumber Rotary meet?

· We meet, over a meal, at the Avoca Tea House each Monday evening at 6.30pm for 7.00pm. Meetings normally finish at about 8:30pm. See further details on the Home Page, click on "Contact Us" menu button.

· What would my commitment be?

· Rotary clubs meet weekly but attendance rules do not expect that you will attend every week.

· Rotary is a voluntary organisation so we recognise that no member can take part in all of the club's activities. Most members are busy people so very few of us take part in everything the club does. We all participate within our own levels of availability and capabilities.

· What else should I know?

· Rotary is non-political and non-secular.

· Membership fees are about $100 for each six month period.

· Members are not asked to contribute financially to fund raising, rather the club is a vehicle for raising funds from business houses and the community in general

· How can I learn more?

· Take the opportunity to visit the Rotary Club of Kincumber and observe a meeting.

· Contact a member or the Club Secretary Graeme Davies  to have a chat

· What happens after I join?

· We make sure that, as   a new member, you get all the support and education you need to make your commitment as valuable and enjoyable as it possibly can be.

· You will join one of the committees, generally club service initially, as it provides the widest opportunity for you to get to know the members and understand how the club runs.

· You will have added another dimension to your life. You, your family, Rotary and the community will all benefit from your commitment.

· How do I join?

· It's easy, talk to a Rotarian.                                                                           Graeme Davies,  Secretary Kincumber Rotary Club

· There is, of course, a nomination process to go through, as with most clubs.
