Australia Day 2008 Celebrations

Wahroonga Rotary hosted a public flag raising and Australia Day observance at Wahroonga Park, attended by about 400 Rotarians and members of the public.

The key speaker was the Australia Day Ambassador to Ku-ring-gai Municipality, supported by  Dr Brendan Nelson, Federal MP for Bradfield, our local State MP, Barry O'Farrell, an honorary member of Wahroonga Rotary and Nick Ebbeck, Mayor of Ku-ring-gai

A flag raising ceremony was performed followed by three cheers for Australia.

As part of the ceremony, a Citizenship ceremony was held for over 100 new Australians.

As the Wahroonga ceremony was held in the early morning of Australia Day tea, coffee and croissants were prepared and served by Wahroonga Rotarians.

For the past eight years, Wahroonga Rotary has made this park ceremony, including the citizenship ceremony, an annual event - a major Australia Day observance for the people of our suburb.
