Epping Rotary Heritage Pathway
Friday 14th July, 2006
We have recently received advice from Parramatta Council staff of a number of conditions that have brought the viability of the project into question. These include:
- a prohibition on the sale of pavers to businesses
- restrictions on the use of community logos
- restrictions on the size and quantity of engraved pavers
- conditions that preclude supporting the Rotary Foundation through the sale of pavers
- Parramatta Council staff to project manage the final design, engineering and construction at a fee of approximately 10% of the project cost
- no staged construction that might enable phased expenditure
- any surplus monies to be spent solely in Boronia Park
These restrictions undermine both the heritage value and the financial viability of the project and are not acceptable for Rotary to continue the project.
We have commenced discussions with elected councillors and we have had significant support from the Epping RSL sub-branch, local businesses and the public. We hope that these discussions will reach a satisfactory conclusion over the next 3 to 4 weeks.
All monies already received in relation to the sale of pavers are currently held in full in Trust. Current subscribers will receive a letter within the next few days offering to refund monies immediately or to advise the outcome once discussions with the Council have been concluded
If there are any questions or concerns regarding either the project or monies submitted, please either call Graham Stevens 9743 6974 or email eppingrotary1@optusnet.com.au
A project of the Rotary Club of Epping "to recognise the People, Organisations and Businesses that contributed to the Epping Community"
The Epping Rotary Centenary Heritage Pathway will be constructed by Epping Rotary in Boronia Park at Epping between Victoria Avenue and the Coles Car Park.

Our plan is to:-
- Create a permanent memorial to the people and organisations that have contributed to the development of Epping
- Provide local residents, businesses and organisations with an opportunity to purchase engraved pavers to recognise their achievements
- Provide a link with the RSL memorial and enhance and beautify this area of Boronia Park with appropriate native plantings
- Celebrate the Centenary of Rotary International and the involvement of Epping Rotary with the Epping Community for more than 40 years
- Support the humanitarian work of the Rotary Foundation
How you can play a part ?
By purchasing your personally engraved pavers you will create a permanent and lasting reflection of the warm association you and your family, organisation or business have with your community in Epping. You will also be helping the humanitarian work of Rotary International and supporting the work of Epping Rotary in the local community.
We look forward to you joining us in this unique community venture.
