Foreword 1994/95

The task of writing the foreword to our great club’s history is indeed a daunting prospect, however I will do my best.

It is coincidental as the thirty third President of Epping that I have been given this honour.Coincidental, because it is in this year of 1995 that our club historians are committing the history to print.

The task of any foreword is to tempt the casual reader to pause a moment and turn the pages and peruse the contents. Not an easy task, but if it was able to tempt Adam and Eve from what was surely a garden paradise with a simple apple, perhaps with a few carefully chosen words it is just possible to tempt the reader to read on.

Over thirty three years the Rotary club of Epping has been honoured and privileged with many energetic and dedicated Rotarians and of course many leaders. Each and every one of these have metaphorically bent their backs to pull the Rotary wheel along the various avenues of service. No club can succeed without such dedicated men and Epping has been blessed with many such great Rotarians.

My sincere wish is that as you turn the pages of Epping’s history, warm memories of Rotarians since called to higher service or retired from the club, will come flooding back with even greater recollections of community projects successfully completed.

To those Rotarians who may turn these pages of our history a decade or so from now, when the faces have faded along with recognition, may the record of our endeavours spur you on to achieve great things and may you continue to dare to dream

John Hayes
President 1994/95
