Foreword 2000/2001

It is indeed my privilege and pleasure to provide the foreword to this edition of our Club History, which stands as a tribute to its authors as well as to the many members ,past and present, whose deeds are the stuff of Service Above Self.

In this, the year 2000,our outstandingly successful Olympic Year, it is fortuitous that the saga of the Rotary Club of Epping should be revisited, reviewed and updated so as to continue encapsulating the essence and the actuality of thirty eight years' high achievement in all avenues of service.

I echo my predeccessor,PPJohn Hayes,in his foreword of 1994/95,in wishing that this record might elicit warm memories and inspire further outstanding service. All of history is about people, their aspirations and deeds;it is not merely a list of occurrences, however monumental they might be .

The saga continues beyond this point,of course. It will add more and even more distinction to the club.We are what we are by virtue of our rich and illustrious past, the sum of so much commitment, enterprise and generosity.May our wonderful club never lose its enthusiasm in responding to perceived needs in our community and beyond.

On behalf of past presidents,I commend Stan and Paul's work to you ,my fellow members

John Payne
President 2000/01
