Activities and Achievements
July 1995.The club participated in the Open Day of the New Rotary Wing of the Childrens Hospital at Westmead The largest single community commitment, costing $2m.,housing a care by parent unit and an adolescent ward.Our Club donated in excess of $18000 over a period of 3 years. The name of the club displayed on Honour Board.
The Club meeting was transferred to New premises of the RSL.Rawson Street.
Family weekend at Leura Resort.35 attended.Cost $370.Organised by Algie Morris.
Tony Castley introduced new RIM format.
Honorary membership was extended to Horrie Mendham & Jim Clough.
Ten Pin bowling competition with Rotaract.Rotary won,led by.Max Breckenridge.
New RSL premises officially opened.Sausage Sizzle held at Boronia Park.The sizzle provided a profit $679.
Trees for survival shadehouse provided and built at Epping Primary School-cost $1655.
3 have now been provided by the club to schools ready to operate.
Four students from Epping Boys’ High School and one from the International School enrolled in Youth Enhancement Scheme (YES).Organised by Mal Bracken.
Eastwood Market resumes.

August 1995.Exchange Student Jarret Tiffen arrived from Canada. David and Joan Stewart/Bob and Michele Smeallie /John and Viv Corney/George and Pauline Cepak act as host parents.
Mock interviews conducted at Epping Boys' High. 11 students participated.
A Sportsmen's Dinner was held with Wallaby team members speaking and participating.165 Rotarians and friends attended. The evening raised $2600. Organised by Ray Hosking, Bruce Edwards, Ava Emdin and Cees Thurmer.
John Guice ex Rotarian-passed away.
Theatre Party at Ryde/Eastwood Leagues Club-"Jerry's Girl".
September 1995.Fellowship Walk-Clontarf to Manly-20 participated.
October 1995. FAIM Project Team members, Tony and Sandra Castley and Marcus Stewart leave for Nepal.
Ray Hosking arranged a visit to the Microsearch Project Premises.
PP Tony Castley appointed to lead a Rotary Team to China.
The High School debate at Beecroft RC between Cheltenham Girls'High School and Epping Boys'High School.The topic: "That there should be a speed limit on the information Super Highway". Cheltenham Girls won.
November 1995.The Langston Memorial Award was awarded to Sacha Curtis, a student of Epping West Public School.
Dalmar Country Fair arranged BBQ.The club raised $568
The annual Austerity Night was held at Castleys. Funds raised were donated to the Kokoda Memorial.Sudath and family prepared the meal.
The members’ weekend was held at Don Spiden's property at Gloucester.
Four attendees at the Youth Enhancement Scheme program (YES) were presented with awards.
December 1995. The members’ Christmas function was held at Graham Simons.
Citizen Awards presented to 8 local school students.
Christmas carols sponsored by Channel 7 were cancelled.
Club members assisted at the Darling Harbour Christmas Pageant.
January 1996.Siemens Science School-Macquarie University - 6 students sponsored.
RYLA.The club sponsored Kathy Adams and Kirrily Davey.
Exchange Students, Trevor Morgan left for Thailand and Andrew Stevens selected for 1997.
RSL advises dinner fee increased to $25.
Singing competition Epping/Carlingford.First "draw". Also joined with Eastwood.
Australia Day was Celebrated at the the holiday home of Graham and Margot Simons located at Avoca.
February 1996.Operation Livewire.Our nominee Catherine Walker won 3rd prize $2000. Coordinator-Wayne Begley.
March 1996.Our meeting venue was moved to Boronia Grove.The dinner cost remained unchanged at $15.
The District Conference was held at Newcastle, 38 attended, dressed as 101 Dalmations at the ball.
Welcome dinner for Italian GSE Team.
10 children were sponsored at a week long camp at Vision Valley for underprivileged children.Cost $1900.Camp entitled Operation Hope.
Fellowship Crazy Whist night was held at the Lutheran Hall.26 attended.
Club members participated in an RAS Function at Tumbalong Park and cooked 2500 sausage sizzles.20 cooks attended and raised $1000.
Epping RIM editor connected to Rotary News Internet and advised the club that the Rotary Foundation received $US44M in last 9 months.
Club members visited the Royal NS Hospital Heart Research Unit.The club donated $500 -Organised by John Edwards.
Fellowship Bush Walk from Cowan to Brooklyn.Arranged by Graham Simons.
A War Memorial was dedicated in Boronia Park.Our club participated and donate $2000 towards the total cost.
Group Study Exchange Team leaves for Italy.
A Small Business Seminar was held at the RSL Club Carlingford and North Rocks clubs also were involved.$1090 was raised and donated to the Youth of the Streets (YOTS) program.
April 1996.The District Assembly was held at Bathurst and attended by 500. It was organised by Epping Rotary.Paul Clune headed a team of 17. The District Governor commended the club for an efficient Assembly.
A combined Ikebukuro-Tokyo Rotary Club/Epping Rotary Club Sister club 25th anniversary was celebrated in Sydney.18 visitors from Japan visited us for 4 days. They were entertained at Castleys, Doyles Restaurant and a Harbour Cruise.130 attended a farewell dinner hosted by our Rotary friends from Japan.
The club conducted a BBQ at a Community Fun Fair in Boronia Park and raised $340.
$1000 was donated to the Prostate Cancer Research Fund
May 1996. Pride of Workmanship awards were made to Craig Kayes, Matthew Davies,Ann Weir, Janet Edwards and Community Service Awards to Frank Martelli, Prisons Fellowship, St.Vincent De Paul Ladies Auxiliary and staff of Epping West Primary School.
The Club was presented with a District Award for: "Outstanding World Community Service and support of the Rotary Foundation ".
$1000 was donated to Eastwood Community Aid to cover vehicle registration and insurance.
Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.Club members assisted in raising $10000. Organized by John Corney and John Edwards.
June 1996.The club sponsored students to MUNA (Mini UN)held at Kings School.
Exchange Student Jarett Tiffen left for home in Canada.Roy Sadler was thanked for his assistance in the exchange.
The Rotaract Club thanked Peter Tugwell and Roy Sadler for their assistance during the year.
The club contributed $1000 to RSL/Rotary Kokoda Memorial Project.
A fellowship "Babes" night was held at the Lutheran Hall
Paul Harris Fellowships were awarded to Max Breckenridge and Alan Thomas.
Epping West Ladies Probus Club was formed. The 6th arranged by our club. Bryan Wilson and Bruce Edwards organised this new venture - 800th club in Australia / New Zealand.
The Changeover Dinner was held at Boronia Gardens. The cost $25.
