General News

"Catch up with Colin" is included in this production of our Club Bulletin.

Tonight:

A special night as we welcome District Governor Pam Pritchard and Trevor Lowes.  Pam has the unenviable task of visiting all 68 clubs in our District 9680 in her year as DG.  Pam's visit is an opportunity for her to see what we have achieved and have planned.  It is also the occasion for us to meet Pam, discuss her experiences and expectations.  We also have pleasure in welcoming our Zone ADG Veronica Hopley who is with us for Pam's visit.

Planning:

As our busy schedule continues I am aware of the potential lack of opportunity for members to be involved in some of our planning.  To this end I propose we utilise some of our Tuesday nights in the near future for the board to have it's meeting with members also participating.  Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this idea.  It would provide an opportunity for the club to develop membership proposals and utilise the outcomes from District and Zone seminars and meetings about membership.  We would develop a club plan to ensure we build on the great club we have and share our fun with many new friends/members.

Dalwood:

I received a lovely letter from Toni Lynch, President Dalwood Auxiliary, thanking our club for its efforts.  A copy will circulate at our meeting, you can be proud of your efforts and there are special mentions for John and Deb Darragh, Deborah O'Brien and John O'Brien.

Diabetes Awareness Night

We held a Diabetes presentation and discussion

on Tuesday July 11th at Wakehurst Golf Club.

Guest presenter was Dr Neville Howard, President

of Diabetes Aust NSW. Neville gave a very

enlightening presentation on the current situation

with respect to the various types of Diabetes within

both the young and older population. The evening

was well attended and feedback from the floor was

that this was a very relevant topic. Many questions

were asked and answers given, leaving some of

those present questioning the merits of eating the

dessert!! Many thanks to Neville and his wife Mary for taking time out to meet with us.

Rotary Golf Day at Manly Golf Club

Was held on Thursday August 3rd af Manly Golf Club. On the night we raised in the order of $27,000 for local charities, which is on par with previous performance. 140 keen and not so keen golfers headed out for a good day on the fairways. Many spent time in the trees with some interesting tales at the end of the day.

Prizes were distributed during drinks and the raffles managed to do very well with guests vying to try to win the great prizes. The evening dinner and Charity Auction as well attended  and enjoyed by all. Thanks to the Manly Golf Club for an excellent dinner.

Thanks to the organizers for a terrific day. The weather was perfect, with the next day teeming with rain – well done organizers, we knew you were well connected!!
