MANDO
Mando is a village in the New Guinea Highlands near Goroka. Wendy Stein discovered the needs of the
village when she was visiting New Guinea, and sought the help of Rotary. The first project for Mando was to
provide chickens so the village would have their own supply of eggs and chicken meat. The villagers have
been able to use their supply to assist surrounding villages. Soon other needs were discovered, and new
projects were built around the villages needs. Project 2 provided water to Mando and other surrounding
villages. Project 3 aimed at building a school and providing a syllabus, and providing women giving birth with
help within their own village, saving them many kilometers walk if they had problems.
Mando is an ongoing project. If you would like to know how you can help please contact Wendy Stein
