Tamworth Longyard Homemaker

The 27th Annual Book Sale of the Tamworth Rotary Club will open its doors to the public in 201 . The site for the book sale at the Longyard Homemaker has been generously donated by the Stockland Group. The Tamworth Rotary Club project recycles nearly half a million books and magazines each year. Many find new homes and some are pulped and recycled. Funds raised from the book sale are channelled into local projects and charities, and also into national and international projects. In 2010 the Tamworth Rotary Club again distributed about $35,000 to these projects.

The proceeds from the book sale have always been directed to a range of local, national and international projects and charities. In 2010, the club will support projects including:
Tamworth Scouts; Ronald McDonald House, Tamworth; Lifeline; Red Cross;
Salvation Army; Tamworth Conservatorium of Music; Meals-on-Wheels; Northcott Society;
Westpac Rescue Helicopter; Youth Insearch; PolioPlus

Encyclopaedias and bibles are sent to schools and missions in Pacific Island nations and south-east Asia where they are useful in English literacy programs. There are also some collectible books available, usually for very reasonable prices.

The Tamworth Rotary Club has enjoyed the generosity of the Tamworth community through the Book Sale for the past 27 years. More than ever, our community needs the help of Rotary and Rotarians to make our town a better place.

Books can be left at The Good Guys, or Goodyear Autocare in Kable Avenue.
