ROTARY YOUTH
EXCHANGE PROGRAM TURNS 50..... AND OUR DISTRICT WILL CELEBRATE WITH A
SPECIAL DINNER ON
FRIDAY 17TH AUGUST 2007.
Rotary Youth Exchange is turning 50 and to celebrate
the program is re-connecting with past students, some dating back as far
as 1958. The Rotary youth exchange program has given many thousands of
Australian students an opportunity of a lifetime. It operates in over 80
countries of the world and involves over 8,000 students each year.
In our District 9640 we have sent out hundreds of young Australians
through Rotary Youth Exchange - some of them we have been able to track
down - many we haven't. Can you please help us by trying to contact some
of the students that your club has sent out over the years. We are sure
that there are Rotarians whose children have been YEP students, and other
Rotarians in towns who know of other people whose students went out as YEP
students.... so can you please either contact them and let them know about
the Celebration Dinner OR send us their contact details and we will track
them down!!!
We would like to be able to recognise those students that have become
Ambassadors for Australia and our District through their years exchange
and to invite them to maintain their contact with Rotary and the clubs
that sent them on exchange. You never know, they might become
prospective members of your Club!!
Program Development and Promotion Officer of YEP in Australia, Stuart
McDonald said, “It is known that many past students have succeeded in a
vast area of expertises both here in Australia and overseas. Many have
become leaders of industry, diplomats, scientists, successful business
proprietors, and community leaders. Others are living and working in many
other fields of employment in all areas of Australia. Rotary wants to hear
from those students. We are asking students to contact Rotary with their
names, their year of exchange, their destination and sponsor Rotary club.
Students can simply email
myrotaryexchange@yahoo.com.au”
We also want them, their parents and partners and the Club members that
were involved in their exchange to all attend the Celebration Dinner and
recognise the value of this wonderful Rotary program.
For further information on the Dinner or anything else to do with Rotary
Youth Exchange, please contact one of the YEP Committee members or email
yep@yep.rotary9640.org
