This edition of
the RI Vocational Service e-newsletter helps clubs prepare
for Vocational Service Month in October and examines some project
resources from RI. It also lists some important dates to mark in
your calendar.
Ten ways to celebrate Vocational Service Month
Rotarians are busy year round looking for
ways to volunteer their skills and expertise to improve the
quality of life in their communities. Here are 10 ways that your
Rotary club can celebrate Vocational Service Month in October:
·
Devote one meeting to a discussion of
The Four-Way Test and the
Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions.
·
Honor a community member who has shown outstanding
professional achievement while maintaining high ethical standards.
·
Discuss how club members can use their vocational
skills to benefit the community.
·
Invite experts to give a presentation about the
vocational needs of your community, and develop a service project
that responds to those needs.
·
Hold a career counseling fair for youth.
·
Organize a Four-Way Test essay contest for students
in your community.
·
Plan a vocational exchange with a club in another
country through
Rotary Friendship Exchange.
·
Organize a “Bring a Rotaractor/Interactor
to Work Day” where Rotaractors or
Interactors shadow Rotarians at work
to learn about career possibilities.
·
Invite a speaker from a local
Goodwill to discuss ways your club can help eliminate barriers
to employment for disadvantaged community members.
·
Encourage club members to put their vocational
skills to work as
Rotary Volunteers.
