The Rotary Club of Parkwood

Vocational Service Director's Report 2005/06

It has been a disappointing year with a planned Pride of Workmanship Award not proceeding due to lack of nominations.  Also an Apprentice of the Year Award did not get the go ahead.

The Club enjoyed another visit to Gold Coast Institute of TAFE, Vision’s Restaurant.  Our Guest Speaker for the evening was Paul Broughton, the CEO of the new Gold Coast Rugby League Club, the Titan’s.  The Club Members, partners and friends enjoyed a three course meal prepared and served to us by the students who are in training at the School of Hospitality.

Our Vocational fundraiser has been a Joker Raffle which has raised $1,200.00 for the Club with the amount of the prize jackpotting each week.  With only 18 cards left the odds are getting better and better and the interest is high.

We enjoyed a vocational visit to the Carlton Brewery at Yatala with meals and drinks afterwards.  A number of members invited their partners and friends for a wonderful night of fellowship as well as an informative evening.

 Yours in Rotary
