The above photo is of Allen Richards, President-elect; Warren King, President of the Mermaid Beach Rotary Club and Craig Tobler, (Rotary Foundation chair) at the Club meeting on 24 June. Warren as Guest Speaker presented an excellent PowerPoint outline of the history and future plans of the EcoCare Pacitic Trust which was formed to support the health, education and environmental well being of the people of the Tongan islands. The initial emphasis is on the establishment of a quality water supply for four of the islands. This project is being supported by Rotarians in Australia and New Zealand with assistance from the Rotary Foundation. He acknowledged the contribution of $1,000 from Parkwood Rotary Club and promised to keep the Club informed of progress with the project.
