Dr. James Wright, the cheerful "Merry Medic" has been part of Australia's media scene for many years. An active practising GP in a northern Sydney suburb (awarded the Order of Australia (AM) in 1998), he continues to see patients, dispensing his own friendly brand of medical care besides delivering daily advice to an enormous nation-wide audience. A few facts on our famous doctor: - His weekly "Good Health Show" is broadcast from 7pm to 9pm each Sunday on 2UE, 954 on the AM dial, and provides medical updates and answers to listeners' "talk-back" questions. He writes for a variety of professional publications including "Post Script" magazine (for Chemists and Pharmacy Assistants), "Signs", a subscription lifestyle magazine, and provides a media tracking service for pharmacists. 0055 12 444 is his 24-hour-a-day national telephone information system. This operates 365 days a year, providing succinct information on a wide variety of health topics. He speaks regularly at business conventions, lunches, conferences and seminars around Australia and overseas and regularly attends functions as an after-dinner speaker. He recently completed his 26th book, and has had 2 books published per year for the past 13 years. Several have become international best sellers, published in twelve overseas countries. These include various translations, and already two have gone into Braille and tape, for the blind. All are on various aspects of popular medicine.
He is a vegetarian by choice, and does not smoke or drink for
health reasons. He likes exercising (walking and surfing). He has a
1250-hectare wool growing farm at Armidale on the NSW tablelands where
he spends most vacations writing more books. Talking Heads - Dr James Wright |
