1993/4 Ken Nelson was Director. Jeanine Mills was nominated for a Group Study Team and was selected as first reserve. Ingrid Nielsen was selected as an Exchange Student to Germany and the Club agreed to host Hilari Martin from Prosser, Washington State, USA. 1994 /5 Phil Leck was Director. Karen Gotlieb was selected as an Exchange Student to France and the Club agreed to host Bjorn Steenbock from Germany as an incoming student. The Club hosted a Group Study Team from Canada and USA 1995/6 Don Watkins was Director. Louise Selsby was selected as an Exchange Student to Sweden. Guess who is coming to dinner was introduced by Brian Knowles and has been maintained since as an avenue for fellowship and fund raising for the Rotary Foundation. A mystery bus tour/dinner night was arranged to raise finance for Youth Exchange and has been continued in each following year.The Club took part in a District project to provide cold chain equipment for the Polio Plus National Immunisation Days in Nigeria. 1996/7 Carl Halls was Director. Jesper Kronborg from Denmark was hosted as an incoming Exchange Student and Kelly Stalman selected as an outgoing student to Belgium. Chris Hodda was nominated by the Club and selected by the District Committee as a member of a Group Study Team to Wales. 1997/8 Don Watkins was Director. Claire Brehain from Belgium was hosted as an incoming Exchange Student. The Club hosted a Group Study Team from Ohio USA. 1998/9 David Reardon was Director. Mita Handayani from Indonesia was hosted as our incoming exchange student, Kelly Stallman completed her year in Belgium and Katy Snoodyk was sponsored as an exchange student to France. Adam Zaniekski was selected as an exchange student to Argentina for the year 2000. A Club website was established as a means of generating interest in the international activities of Rotary and "International Toasts" were introduced at our meetings. Brian Knowles continued with the organisation of "Guess who's coming to dinner" activities as a means of support for the Rotary Foundation. Used prescription glasses were collected and despatched overseas to assist citizens in a developing country. 1999/2000 PP Peter Richards served as Director. Erin Fredericks of Nova Scotia, Canada was hosted as our incoming exchange student, Adam Zaniewski was sponsored as an exchange student to Argentina for 2000. Rebecca Lee was selected as our outwards student for 2001 and will be going to France. The collection of used stamps was continued as a fund raising project. The Club continued the sponsorship of a boy in a Salvation Army Home in Indonesia. Twenty clay cooking ovens were provided for Bangladesh. Goods and other assistance were given for the East Africa School being established by Gemma Rice. 2000/2001 Don Watkins served as Director. Adam
Zaniewski completed his year as an Exchange Student to Argentina and
Rebecca Lee left for her year as an Exchange Student to France. Saara
Kuusinen from Finland was hosted as an inwards Exchange Student. A curry
night was held as a fund raiser. The proceeds from "Guess Who is
Coming to Dinner" organised by Brian Knowles were donated to the
Rotary Foundation. In addition used stamps were collected as part of a
District scheme to assist the Foundation. 2002/2003 Mark Kent served as Director and his report may be found here 2003/2004 John Tunnicliff
served as Director. PRIT Brian Knowles again organised a series of Guess
Who's Coming to Dinner functions with the proceeds donated to the Rotary
Foundation. Chelsea Duhs was selected as a
GSE
participant but unfortunately had to withdraw due to a promotion in her
employment. A GSE team from District 3290 (India-Nepal) was hosted by the
Club - the hosts being Murdoch, Rolle, Bottomley and Mikschi families and
Karyn Joyner with special thanks to Lisa Murdoch for organising
fundraising for the visit. |
