Edition: Volume 13 No. 2

19th July 2006

Meets Tuesdays 6.00pm for 6.30pm at Fiascos Restaurant, Parkwood Tavern, Olsen Ave, Parkwood

Well that is Christmas (in July) for another year. Everyone who attended was clearly having a festive time and being very creative with some of the Trivia answers. Thank you to those members who had kind words to Jan and I about the evening. It is important that we know what we are (or are not) doing right on these occasions. Please email or call about any aspects of the club or functions that you would like to change or think can be improved. Bouquets or Brickbats-it doesn't matter.

I also wanted to particularly express my appreciation to my wife Jan for organising the night and the prizes, Susan who collated the numbers and looked after registration and Margaret Grummitt who supplied Santa, the hats, a raffle prize and the musical entertainment for the night and a special thank you to the guests who accompanied us. I would say there is little doubt as to which sex is the better singer! I will say no more on that point.

Photos from the night will be posted shortly.

And can Doug Thomas win any more prizes this year? Two raffle prizes and best dressed on the night. Well done Doug!

We are planning a night in late August at an out of club venue and we are finalising details which will be announced soon. There is little doubt that our members know how to enjoy themselves and that is part of being involved in a club such as Parkwood. Stay tuned!

The Christmas Carols!

CONGRATULATIONS to Ken Bonython and Alison Apps for their awards presented by PP John on Tuesday night. Ken for his sapphire pin for his Paul Harris Fellowship and Alison for the Presidents Award for her contribution to the club in 05-06.

NEW EDITOR                                                  Finding an editor for the bulletin is now paramount. I am happy to keep it going in July until we have the format correct but I need an editor starting August. Preferably a non-board member who can spend a short time each week compiling it. It is in html so having MS Front Page will make it easy. Just type. The template will be provided and you will just need to fill in the blanks and maybe able to get your creative juices involved where required.. Please let me know if you are interested.

NEXT WEEK is our official visit by DG Douglas Geekie and his wife. Members are encouraged to bring their partners and guests to hear what Doug’s plans are for this year. Please let Susan know if you are not attending or bringing guests so we can get the catering numbers right.

Speaking of which, please note that effective from now if you are unable to attend a Tuesday meeting or if you are bringing guests, please contact Susan. Her number and email are below. Thanks very much to Ken Smith who has been collating the attendance numbers for as long as I can remember. He has earned a rest.

THE UPCOMING EVENTS CALENDER is at the bottom of the page so please have a look so you don’t have any clashes with what is coming up in August and beyond.
