COUNCIL ON LEGISLATION

The 2004 Council on Legislation, met in Chicago, Illinois, USA from  14 to 18 June. The Council considered many proposals such as increasing the per capita dues by US$4 per year over a period of three years, and amending the constitution to allow attendance credit for 30 minutes of activity at a Rotary club website.

The decision to increase dues was as follows:

Each club shall pay to RI per capita dues for each of its members as follows: US$19.50 per half year in 2004-2005, US$21.50 per half year in 2005-2006 and US$23.50 per half year in 2006-2007 and thereafter. Such dues shall remain constant until changed by the council on legislation.

Pro-rated Dues: The following per capita dues in prorated amounts shall be payable by each club for each member who has been elected to membership in the club subsequent to the July or January semi-annual period for which dues are payable: US$9.75 in 2004- 2005, US$10.75 in 2005-2006 and US$11.75 in 2006-2007 and thereafter. The prorated per capita dues are due and payable on 1 October and 1 April.

CONGRATULATIONS TO COOMERA VALLEY ROTARY CLUB

 Coomera Valley Rotary Club scooped the pool with District 9640 Awards for 2003/04.  The President and members of that Club deserve congratulations on taking out the following major awards:

 Community Service

Significant Achievement

Service to Youth

Rotary/Interact involvement

In addition Coomera Valley was awarded the 2003-2004 Presidential Citation in recognition of its commitment to alleviate poverty and promote peace and its support of the family of Rotary through Rotary Service.

Coomera Valley is certainly a neighbour of whom we can be justifiably proud.

SHANGHAI ROTARY CLUB

Dragan Djordjevic, President of Shanghai Rotary Club, was a welcome
guest at the last meeting of the Parkwood Rotary Club. Dragan brought
greetings from the Chinese Club, presented a banner to President Michael,
reported on the success of his Club's project, Gift of Life Shanghai China,
and contributed heavily during the fines session.  Dragan sought a
continuing interest by Parkwood Club in the Gift of Life project. Further
