BLOOD DONORS' CHALLENGE

MESSAGE FROM RAY BURTON OF THE BROADBEACH ROTARY CLUB:

I visited Nerang Rotary Club to talk about the “Police Officer of the Year Award”, and in so doing, I also raised the topic of becoming a blood donor. To my surprise. Phil Conolly, one of their members, had been trying to do the same thing and now we have joined forces to promote the idea.

Attached is a flyer produced by Phil. We are trying to get all Rotarians who are capable, to become blood donors. All you have to be is under the age of 70, in good health, and not having visited Great Britain for more than 6 months between the years 1980 – 1996. We thought that having a little competition among our clubs could add a little more incentive to donate. Perhaps we could have a trophy called “Dracula’s Trophy”.

Donations can be made at the G.C.Hospital or at the mobile van whose location is advertised from time to time.

Perhaps one member of your club might take on the task of being club co-ordinator and we could keep in touch with him/her. It is our hope that all our district will become involved later, then perhaps all clubs in Australia, then the world.

Why can’t we dream? After all look at what Rotary has done with “polio plus’. Anyway here’s trying.
