The school of St Jude - Gemma Sisia back to top

Our Club members continued to sponsor a student at the School of St Jude, at Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. Arusha is situated near Mt Kiliminjaro.

The school was set up in 2002 by Gemma Sisia (nee Rice), an Australian expatriate, who comes from Guyra, NSW.

The student we are sponsoring is Albert Peter, a 7-year-old boy. Albert recently completed term 1 of the Kinder class operated by the school. His two report cards received have shown that he is progressing well.

Our Club sponsors Albert for A$1100 per year. This cost includes not only the expense of his education for 12 months but also provides him with school uniforms, the costs associated with school excursions and some medical expenses.

Computers donated by an Australian school, a new library and two new classrooms have been added to the school this year, with the help of volunteers, many of them fellow Rotarians.

RAWCS back to top

Once again, our Club assisted in the RAWCS Project #85, in the Sponsoring For Children in Indonesia Programme. The $110 donated assists in keeping a child at school for almost a year.

Donations In Kind back to top

Postage stamps have been eagerly collected by Club members and distributed to the Chermside Rotary Club via John Paskin. They are sold and the money goes back to DIK, making around $1200 per year.
