Rotary Club of Cleveland Changeover dinner
President's Report
Well - it is finally here. My final President's report. I am looking forward to our Changeover next Tuesday night - when we can celebrate the year that has been, and also look forward to a new year under PE Merv's leadership.
It was a very enjoyable evening last Tuesday night. I was very pleased that our host families were able to join us to hear Dora's story. We will still see Dora for a few more weeks of course.
News from John Lipman is that the new club at Victoria Point/Redland Bay has decided on the name: Rotary Club of Redlands Bayside. DG Des has emailed us from Chicago conference indicating that our district 9630 is leading the attendance and membership figures for Australia and may also be achieving highly at an international level. He is keen to add to this with the chartering of the new club before the end of the year. I'm not sure that it will be done but I am totally sure that this new club is going to be a very positive addition to Rotary in our area. They are already a friendly, inviting group to meet with, and they are already thinking of what contributions they can make to Rotary Service. We look forward to hearing news of their charter night in the near future.
The Annual Report will be out on email in the next day or so. If you would like to have a hard copy please let me know. In the past I know that I have read the Annual Report and then filed it away for a year or two. Therefore I have tried to do something different this year. Bill Jordan and I were having a yarn about new and prospective members and how hard it is for them to learn all about the workings of Rotary and also of our club. We thought it would be great to have something to give to them to read - that gives some of this information. So - I have written the Annual Report in this vein. It gives some general information about Rotary and our Club and then includes the story of the past 12 months. I hope that throughout the next 12 months it can be printed out or emailed to people that are seriously considering membership so that they get a very clear picture of what they are contemplating.
That's all from me for now. I hope that I can adequately express my thanks to the people that have assisted me throughout the year. It has been interesting and certainly a "learning experience".
Yours in Rotary
Jill

ROTARY CLUB OF MITCHELTON – KOKODA LUNCH – 13 JULY
The young eighteen year old, second from the right in this famous photograph, taken on the Kokoda track/trail by Damien Parer, is George Palmer, a member of the Rotary Club of Mitchelton, and a tireless worker for "Donations In Kind" at Wacol every Thursday.
George will be speaking at our fundraising lunch on Wednesday, 13 July, along with Peter FitzSimons, former Wallaby, and author of several best selling books, including "KOKODA". Peter has walked the Kokoda track/trail, although under slightly less arduous and frightening conditions than George.
(Is it track or trail? Find out on 13 July!)
All Rotarians know of Rotary’s excellent Donations In Kind project, and many have helped in the packing of containers at Wacol. All will be aware of the difficulties experienced in funding the ever-increasing costs of freighting the containers, which we pack. All funds raised at the lunch will be donated towards the costs of sending these DIK containers.
We look forward to your support and hope that you will encourage support from others.

Weight Loss Challenge
Yes, only 1 week to go on the Cleveland Rotary Weight Loss Challenge. In next week's Bulletin will be the "Declaration Form" which I will need completed on Thursday 30th June - honor system and all that. We'll then need to tally up and seek the various $ contributions from your sponsors. There will then be a final club presentation to / by Diabetes Queensland.

Thank You
I would like to thank all Rotarians and Partners for the contribution to our weekly bulletin. There are times when content is skinny and others when we could produce a 20 pager. Thanks to all who have contributed over the year. I will be continuing as editor next year (unless there are others who would like a go) and look forward to further contributions and comments on how to improve the newsletter.
Yours in Rotary
PP John
