President's Statement
The Rotary Club of Mitchelton is one of the many clubs in Rotary District 9600. Our club has been active since 1967 and is centred on the areas of Mitchelton, Keperra, Arana Hills and Everton Park in Brisbane.
Our club is actively involved in a wide range of programs that support the youth, the elderly and sporting groups within the local community.
We are also actively involved in a range of international programs, most of which are focussed on Papua New Guinea.
Each December Mitchelton Rotary holds a Xmas lunch for the elderly within the community. This is put on at no cost to the individual and is aimed at those who will spend Xmas alone and without family.
On Australia Day each year we hold a Citizenship Ceremony for our newest Australians. This is a special day for those who have made the decision to leave their place of origin and become Australian Citizens.
Our Club has a total of 20 members who are active in all areas of Rotary Service. We are a club that is made up of members from a variety of business and professional backgrounds.
The Rotary club of Mitchelton is open to membership to anyone who is interested in helping the community and we encourage both male and female membership.
Like most community organisations we rely on fund raising and every dollar collected is put back into our local community. A number of youth and sporting clubs have benefited from fund raising efforts by Mitchelton Rotarians.
We are a very social club and regularly get together for a club function, be it a night at the theatre or dinner at a local restaurant.
