More President at Home Photos

The Aspley Rotary Club has occassionally in the past, travelled away for Presidents at Home. It's perfectly understandable as many Rotarians homes don't lend themselves to catering for upto 70 people, and also the activities can not be varied greatly.

I support the variations that we've seen, over the years, in these carry over type activities that Presidents are "required" to host. Undoubtedly they wish to entertain the members on their special day, but the method is entirely of their chosing. We have been privileged to have had such a wide range of activities over the years.

Aspley Rotary Visit to Tambourine

The Aspley Rotary Club has, over recent years, arranged a Club weekend at the Bunya Mountains Chalets. These weekends have proved to be popular in allowing Rotarians and their partners to get to know each other in different surroundings. This time the Club attended Mt Tambourine for a change. Here is a selection of the photos taken by Doug. Thanks Doug!

More Christmas Raffle Pictures

Following on from the Home pag: Here are some candid pictures from the Raffle held in 2007.

Three different Rotary shirts already in existence! Now Barry is selling another one! I think it's like the one that June's wearing though. Even Rotarians buy tickets......maybe it's conscience money?

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! At least that's how the saying goes. These fellows could hardly be called dull though!

Rotary Race Day NOW ON!

The good news is that our sponsors are staying with us and the new date for the Rotary Race Day is 17th February 2008. Let's all get behind this event and make sure that it is even more successful than it has been in the past!

The photo shows Rotarians John, Jeff, and Brian discussing the good news of the new date for the Rotary Race Day being set.........or are they just reflecting the same thing! :)

International Sistership Club

The Rotary Club of Colombo in Sri Lanka has arranged with us to become one of it's sister clubs.

A formal function is being held in Sri Lanka in February 2008 to celebrate the arrangements and Rotarians from our Club are invited to attend. A five day tour has been arranged for visitors who attend this function, to see the sights around Colombo.

The arrangement has grown out of the long-time acquaintance with visiting rotarian Senake, shown here with President Graham.

Wine on the Tables... Sirromet no less!

PP and Bulletin Editor, Bill Farley rejoined us at Rotary recently, after a few things had interferred with his Rotary meeting attendances.

Many members, as well as Bill, enjoy a drop of good red wine, and Bill was kind enough to put bottles on every table for members to enjoy during the meeting.

Thanks Bill, for this very kind gesture!

International Club Banners

For many years Charter member Rex Eaton has maintained our Club banners, and arranged their being put onto display frames. Now it's our turn as members to ensure that the displays are put out as part of the duties of the members scheduled on for each weekly meeting.

This is a selection of some of our banners. Have you as a member ever brought a banner back to the club from another Club after exchanging one of our banners?

Meeting Activities

Two members on duty each week also provide registration facilities, for members and guests at each meeting. Here Rotarian Barry and Rotarian David are just busting to help any arriving Rotarians or guests!

It's a great job to have, when your new to the Club as a member as it allows you to get to know all the members names more quickly! It's also an excellent job for any member as you get a chance to chat with everyone as they arrive at a meeting.

Circulating during conversation at meetings, or maybe over coffee afterwards even, is a great way to maintain club harmony. Being inclusive is every members responsibility!

It's so easy to just sit with friends, each week. .........But, think about it............... you'll likley see them at other times during the week anyway!

Rotary Changeover 2007-2008
