We are a small, vital and inclusive club that continues to seek out like minded people to join with us in 'Service Above Self', broaden the Club's business and professional representation, enlivening our meetings and contribute to the Object of Rotary and its ideals.
Sunrise Opening Comment
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise Website.
Our club was chartered on 26 July 1989. We have 35 Active Members, 5 Honorary Members and 5 Associates from a vast section of professions and classifications within the Darwin community. We are proud of the fact that when chartered our Rotary Club was the first in our District to offer mixed gender membership.
Part of my role as President for the coming year will be to continue to support the Rotary Foundation, improve our younger membership base, already our club has seen the first baby within the Darwin Rotary Clubs and hopefully looking for more babies to be introduced over the coming years.
Our club has many ongoing local and international community projects to support e.g. the Polio Eradication Collection Tins, the Aboriginal Health Worker Excellence Awards, also the Paramedic of the Year Award. We also have the Cambodian Project, Joan Ridley Gardens project, Cowdy Ward at the Royal Darwin Hospital, the National Science Forum, Centre for Youth Music, Plain English Speaking Awards, these are ongoing worthwhile projects that we would continue to support, plus any other projects that may come to hand throughout the Rotary Year.
I look forward to working with my new board for this year. I believe we can all continue to build on the good work of the last board and previous years whilst setting new goals that may be achieved.
