A combined Rotary
Radio Auction took place last year in 2007.
On
Saturday, March 24th 2007, the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge
and Radio 5MU held their inaugural Rotary Radio Auction.
This important fundraising event was held to gather funds that will
provide immediate relief to those in need in times of crisis, such as
local citizens losing their homes to fire, tragic accident victims
requiring emergency assistance or other worthy community causes as
determined from time to time by the board of trustee’s, consisting of
representatives from The Murray Bridge Rotary Club, Radio 5MU and 1
bipartisan community representative.
The radio auction was broadcast on 1125 5MU on the Saturday where phone and in person bids
were taken on
items kindly donated by organizations throughout the morning
and minor items were ‘knocked down’ every 10 minutes. Major donated items
ran as an auction item for the 3 hour duration.

There was NO RESERVE on any item, and past experience in other areas
had shown this to be a most successful way of gaining the best results and
attracting the greatest amount of bids/listeners/participants.
A total of $9927 was raised. Many
thanks to the co-ordinators John Whimpress (Rotary Murray Bridge) and
Colin Taylor (General Manager 5MU)
Watch for details of the next one coming up in October 2008
