Glenelg is a seaside suburb some 10 kilometers from the City of Adelaide, and is the birthplace of the State of South Australia in 1836.  The "Old Gum Tree" under which the arrival was recorded, still stands today.
Glenelg has a "village atmosphere" and Jetty Road is crammed with shoppers and visitors during the whole of summer and  most weekends.
The Rotary Club of Glenelg received its official charter at a dinner at the Pier Hotel, Glenelg on July 26, 1952
