Three Community Service Awards for 2003

Community Graffiti Removal Group

Jeff Neale, the Director of Community Service, awarded a Rotary Community Service Award to the Community Graffiti Removal Group. This group of 33 volunteers operates throughout the Campbelltown and the Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council areas and has the strong support of both Councils. So far, it has removed 132,000 tags at 40,000 sites. The Campbelltown Council area is now virtually graffiti free with only ongoing maintenance required and the Norwood, Payneham and St. Peters Council area is well on the way to being graffiti free.

Campbelltown Uniting Church Drop-In

This organisation, which is formed around a band of twelve to fourteen volunteers, provides a meeting place and activity centre for the elderly of our community every Thursday morning. Services provided at no cost include fellowship, carpet bowls and morning tea. People with wheelchairs are especially welcome. Representing this group of volunteers were John Fry (Chairman), Colleen Graham and Lindsay and Beryl Brooksby.

A Community Service Award to Beryl and Jim Gray for their tireless commitment as volunteers working to help the people of the eastern suburbs for thirty years. They have been active in many organisations and have taken leadership positions as volunteers for organisations such as the Red Cross, Red Cross Telecross, Meals on Wheels, the North Eastern Community Hospital, the Leukaemia Foundation and service organisations.
